The Mayor’s announcement on the flooding for those who visit Budapest

During the whole period of the flood passing through the Danube, tourist still have the opportunity to enter the city, the central railway stations as well as the Liszt Ferenc International Airport can smoothly receive travellers.  Despite traffic restrictions in some areas of the city, the road transport services of BKK and transport along public roads is safe, tourism attractions may be reached without any difficulties, since all these are not threatened by the flooding.

Tourists, who plan to visit Budapest and stay here, will be informed via the official channels of Budapest Festival and Tourism Center at www.budapestinfo.hu, and facebook.com/visitbudapest, as well as www.facebook.com/latogassbudapestre. The Centre for Budapest Transport has launched the site www.bkk.hu/arviz, specifically with the aim to provide information of public transportation services, on which there is also some among others there is information about the tram line 2, which till the flood has not shrunk, will not be operating.

The Danube River Police has informed the captains of boat hotels stationed along the Danube ports on time, and thanks to that the passengers of the boats were secured before the flood has arrived. So have done Danubius Hotels Group Margitsziget and Danubius Health Spa Resort Margitsziget. The two hotels operated by Danubius will not receive guests probably till June 17th. Due to the flooding and its threat on Margaret Island, the opening of the Open-air Stage of Margaret Island has been postponed, therefore the programs scheduled for June are cancelled. Those who have purchased tickets for these performances, from June 6th till 21st will have the opportunity to trade them for performances of the Budapest Summer Festival, or will be able to re-exchange them. The 1st Wine and Barbecue Festival to be held at the bay of Lágymányos and Kopaszi dike, is now scheduled for 19-20-21 July 2013.
