„Without a strong and successful capital there isn't a strong and successful Hungary”, stated Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, addressing the ceremony of the delivery of 150 new Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses, at Heroes’ Square. The new buses indicate that Mayor István Tarlós has succeeded, since from now on he is not only able to ensure the city’s everyday operation, but he has created the conditions for improvement, added the Prime Minister. Mayor István Tarlós has emphasized that the agreement between the government and the capital city enables not only the financing of public transportation, but the long-expected replacement of old vehicles.
After twenty years it has happened for the first time that the City of Budapest and the central government is willing and able to cooperate. Prior to that, for two decades the capital city was constantly arguing with the all-time governments, it has simply stuck in a “state of defiance” without reference to the regime in power, explained the Prime Minister.
