The largest transport hub in Buda, the Széll Kálmán tér, has been renewed

The renewed Széll Kálmán tér (square)

As a result of a one and a half year work, the Széll Kálmán tér has been completely renewed, and from now it is a European-standard, modern junction point, meeting place high-quality step-free and green community space, awaiting the passengers. As one of the most crowded and busy transport hubs of Buda, it has been renovated according to a realistic, deliberate, well-prepared idea, taking the public transport aspects into account in particular.

Thanks to the inauguration of the interconnected tram network of Buda at the end of last year, the reshaped square offers new transport connections, as part of the renovation, a MOL Bubi bicycle station and bicycle roads have been built as well. Instead of the formerly bald concrete surfaces, 182 planted trees, more than 700 square meters of small bushes, flowers and grass makes the square greener. Those who would like to buy tickets and passes or wish to administer other public transport related issues, will soon be able to do it at the new customer service center of BKK. It is only the fan‑shaped metro station building that reminds us of the former look of the square.
